world cup

i know it's day 5 of world cup 2010, and it's kinda 'late' to post about it.
i've to pick and watch only 1 match due to exam period, and hope i don't miss too much.
australia has telecast on tv, unlike singapore that you need to subscribe with starhub and singtel. maybe because australia is in the competition?
but the tv is bad at my place. the screen size aside, i need to adjust the antenna every few minutes.

i support spain as usual, one of the favourites to win with castrol calculated spain as the 2nd likely winner.
personally, i feel netherland and germany will do well. talking about germany, i've became a fan of mezut ozil after watching him put up a man of the match performance against australia. the efficiency of germany is scary, and tactically organised. but partly it's australia that made them look good, sometimes the germans are out of position but unpunished by a much weaker team. after germany won australia 4-0, the aussie commentators tone changed. lol.
australia's chance to qualify from the group stage is as good as none. with talisman tim cahill suspended with a red card, low on morale with a 4-0 thrashing, and a not so tactically organised manager.

just some interest facts that i read from soccernet:

1. england legend bobby moore almost missed world cup in 1966 because he didn't have a contract with a club. back then, you need to have a contract with a club to be eligible which that rule has changed now.

2. when the team register a 23 players list, the 3 goalkeepers listed on the list can only play as goalkeeper and not outfield player. north korea is kinda owned for their side deck method.

and more interesting stuff from goal.com

36 female Netherlands fans thrown out of stadium & accused of ambush marketing, owned.

but strait times report is the best

condom sales in south korea increases after the team won the opening game.
