YUGIOH National Championship 2009
played and got 2nd in yesterday's world tournament national qualifier.
contradicting feeling. feel happy to finally go far in official tournament (i only got top 6 which is many years ago), and disappointed not being able to go for world tournament. so near yet so far.
only 1 slot allocated for singapore for the world tournament in august in japan, which means i can't go.
although the champion mentioned that he may not be going due to O' level, but he later confirmed with me that he'll be going. (DAMN! you just study, boy!)
till the night before the tournament, i can't decide should i use blackfeather or AKB.
no doubt, BF is the best deck in the format, but i'm not confident with my BF mirror matches.
i've been using AKB to play against BF, and of course BF against AKB. and according to akira, my BF is too controlled-play style. i agree, but sometimes it's hard to change it.
due to 'asian format', AKB is quite nerfed. everyone is talking about naturia beast and naturia balkion, but i feel the main nerf will be gorz and golden sarcophagus.
so i picked black feather...
slept at 0230 and woke up at 0630. meet up with akira in sembawang station, and travelled to SMU. insider joke: “早起的鸟儿有虫吃."
as we all know, mov judges don't follow fully to what known to the rest as the official ruling. i asked the head judge about "ruling of the day", e.g. rivalry of warlord. but after some thought i still sticked to the original deck list.

round 1: i've 2x solemn judgement (call me lao ba!), 1x bottomless traphole. so i controlled and otk to win.
round 2: he started with bora and gale to synchro for armor master, with a set card. my hand has sirocco, shura, bora, monster reborn, book of moon, bottomless. which can't last against his opening. i jus reborn his gale and s.summon bora for blackrose. he later cosmo with metamol pot and sword of revealing light. so the game paced slowed down and i later won with 1x whirlwind and 2x icarus on his back row.
-LUNCH BREAK-
ate KFC with the rest, and i end up vomiting. and i've been coughing for 2 weeks. when the vomiting feeling comes and i cough, i can hardly breathe for that few seconds.
swiss 2: -VS- control burn [OO]
side note: an 'ah beng' looking guy, sat down with 1x layer of thin transparent card sleeves and no proper deck boxes.
round 1: he set 2x solemn, 1x divine wrath and cylinder, set a des koala. i used shura + kalut to kill koala and s.summon gale, set solemn. after 2 turns, synchro ddb. s.summon dad. he used divine wrath on my dad, and my solemn got solemn-ed by him. chained gravity bind on my ddb's attack. i summon BF and reborn to otk.
round 2: wait for chance to delta crow, then otk.
swiss 3: -VS- plant control [OXX]
round 1: he had a 2200/0, which i think the name is amarilis. so i just sirocco focus on bora to win.
round 2: after alot of 1 for 1 trades. i've 1 armor master on field, and only 1 kalut on hand. i left 1250 due to solemn, he synchro for ddb using giga plant and 1 star tuner. 1-1
round 3: get farmed by his 1300 plant with critter effect and 1500 that can revive a plant when destroyed. i've 2x north pole, 2x gale, 2x kalut. totally owned by those 2 search engines.
swiss 4: -VS- unknown [OO]
round 1: he set marshmallow and cyclone. i whirlwind + shura opening. cyclone on whirlwind of course. shura hits marshmallow. he shouted quite loud, "TAKE 1000!" i set book of moon and solemn to end turn, as i really don't know what deck is he playing, i guess is emperor. he set banisher and ddv then ended. activated ddv during my draw phrase, which i just 41420027 (solemn judgement!) i brain wash and otk with synchro.
round 2: shura hit on marshmallow again, and he shouted again. he activated scapegoat on my end phrase, and it really shocked me since that filled up all his monster slots. he changed 1x token's mode to creature swap my shura, which i didn't solemn. during my turn, i was thinking if it's possible to otk, and the answer is negative. so i summon shura again. he solemn it, and of course~ i 41420027 his solemn. with his 4000 hp, i otk. s.summon gale and use effect on shura on his field. brain wash marshmallow. synchro for arms wing. attack goat for 2800, shura hits shura to s.summon my gale (which i don't know if the ruling is ok) and ddb to win. anyway, he conceded before i s.summon my gale. =p so no diff.
swiss 5: -VS- AKB [OO]
round 1: he set a monster every turn, things like GK guard and raikou. i end my every turn his no monster on his field, and won with ddb + dad. (i finally did it on someone. hahaha)
round 2: play till both no field. which means Bf's advantage. pot of avarice is not as efficient as whirlwind after that. won slowly.
ranked 6th after 5 rounds of swiss.
proceed to top 16.

round 1: didn't risk to otk as he has too many set cards, controlled board and won.
round 2: he started 1st and set 4 at the back with gadget opening. owned...
round 3: i've a monster hand. whirlwind + shura opening for kalut. he owned the opening with cyber dragon and banisher of radience, so i can't use kalut. well played* being controlled with these 2 cards and he started his gadget loop. i've 2x kalut, 2x bora on hand and dad (if i rmb it correctly) still have my whirlwind on field. i'm thinking of otk. summon kalut, then search gale, and s.summon all. kill banisher then can use the 2nd kalut from hand
then synchro for ddb and s.summon on main phrase 2. but not enough to kill. i know he had monster hand since he didn't set anything at the back given his board control. so decided to summon kalut to search for gale, s.summon gale and 1x bora. clear his board and armor master. at that point i've 3 dark in grave, and i'm confident he can't clear my armor master since monster hand. so i confirm can dad on next turn, if he drew anything this turn and set at the back which prevented my dad otk. i'll start my BF whirlwind loop which i'm confident to win over his monster hand. as expected he just set a monster and end. so i just full "revenge bar" and over kill him.

but gave me a small scare. mind control my shura s.summon gale and synchro for urbellum and summon x-saber.

round 1: whirlwind opening. trap dust shoot his sirocco. left him with 1x gale and 2x kalut. solemn his gale next turn. and i know i'm in control as his hand can't do anything. 4000hp for control + tempo. he drew some traps to slow me down while i drew monsters. then he sirocco and killed my bora. i can't take out the sirocco and lost.
round 2: trap dust shoot luck again. only kalut in his hand and 2x bottomless, 1x whirlwind, 1x allure. he set 2 and end, so at least 1 of them is bottomless. i wanna otk on next turn. but lack of 300hp more, because of his bottomless. (summon kalut, search gale. summon all which can't be bottomless. then icarus to destroy his bottomless. and ddb.) won eventually.
round 3: he started 1st, 2x whirlwind with bora and set 2 more. i summon sirocco due to limited choice (no choice!), get mirror forced. set both solemn and icarus and end. hoping he has no icarus/delta, so i've a chance to come back next turn. plan: summon next turn, which will sure eat trap. chain with icarus, and solemn his solemn. but he used icarus on my end phrase. there goes the hope to come back. timing, suddenly black out. lol. even god knows i'm gonna lose. he whirlwind x2 loop for 2 more turns. lost after he otk.

there's someone who pour lots of cards on the floor to sell at $0.10 each. i heard there're summon priest and coldwave.
and also, angryboy alex dropped in swiss, the only person who dropped. haha... just to get yongxiang down.
the plant deck guy who won me in swiss got himself DQ in top 16.
He got 3 fouls which resulted in a game loss.
1. He came late
2. answering a call in the middle of a game
3. summoning 2 amarilis from the graveyard at the end phase without placing it in a chain block even though no one really cares whether u do it in a chain block or not.
my opinion is...
1. there is no proper time of every round announced.
2. like what is mentioned above, someone (i don't wanna mention name) whispered to my opponent in final with the judge just sat beside him. i looked at the judge, and i pointed at the person. the judge said is fine. (although i doubt what was whispered affect the match)
3. technically, it can be fouled. but i'm sure there're many other things you can pick on if you want to.
the lucky draw is won by judges. wtf?

6 days to ord
finally replaced my TV... street fighter 4 never feels so nice.
get it at a good price, $699 for 32 inch samsung LCD series 4.
no more sitting at the edge of bed to watch football!
participated in team tournament yesterday with mog and akira.
we end up won first, and won a box of crimson crisis. which is really a god-like box!
the organiser is imba, i don't have to go into further detail.
double elimination:
1st round - goulian, GG, poh chun
2nd round - jeff, BA, banana
3rd round - alex, clarence, yi jie
final round - yi jie, clarence, alex
the final is recorded. lol! look at mr. ang's back view.
it was banana's birthday, so ALL of us went to billy bomber in jurong point for dinner. the attendance is strong. lol... even luci made a guest appearance.

quick update

the new one should be installed by wednesday. (just purchase it just now.)
HD TV at last! enjoy my ps3 even more!

a part drops out and it stucks at the gear. brought it to the fossil shop in pacific plaza to get it fixed, and i should collect it on thu?
and..... my phone is at the last stage of cancer. (don't worry, is not my iphone)
my NS phone is almost dead, hanging. on and off by itself, keypad doesn't respond. and hang as it wishes. hopefully it can last me for another 10 days. ORD!

not just my TV, my watch also died! alright, just "sick"...
a part drops out and it stucks at the gear. brought it to the fossil shop in pacific plaza to get it fixed, and i should collect it on thu?
and..... my phone is at the last stage of cancer. (don't worry, is not my iphone)
my NS phone is almost dead, hanging. on and off by itself, keypad doesn't respond. and hang as it wishes. hopefully it can last me for another 10 days. ORD!
damn! everything is dying... and even my com has this legendary blue screen shit.
