it's finally over...
barcelona 2-0 manchester united



la liga champion vs premier league champion, the dream final. i took a day off to watch this.
this season barca's form is excellent, just look at the total scored by henry(26), eto'o(35) and messi(38). it takes one whole team to score that amount of goals, eeerm.. probably still can't meet that number. xavi and iniesta are my favourites =)

and thanks to barca, manu can't retain the title. cocky manu fans.

finally, henry won what he failed to win in 2006 in the final. the only medal that he's short of.

my personal player ratings for the match.

barcelona:

victor valdes - 6.5
nothing much to do for the whole game, but made a good save against ronaldo at a close range after 2-0 up.

puyol - 8.0
catalan skipper played out of position to become a right back due to suspension and injury of other players. he made rooney look invisible in the 1st half, and contained ronaldo well in the 2nd. did well when goes forward to join the attack. flawless...

pique - 7.5
ex manu player, a rock at the back and helpsed out toure well. most improved barca player this season.

yaya toure - 6.5
another out of position player, an emergency centre back. his position is bad, but overall did well enough to keep a clean sheet.

sylvinho - 7.0
during the pre-match, everyone says he'll not be good enough as a replacement. and he did well to shut his doubters. did well going forward given his age of 35.

busquets - 7.0
cover the 2 creative centre mid well. expect more from him in the future.

xavi - 8.5
expect nothing less from him, excellent performance. controlled the midfield, made an assist for messi for the 2nd goal. thats what happen when you give him that much of time and space.

iniesta - 9.0
my man of the match! made his run in the middle at the manu's defence and lead to eto'o 's goal. a constant threat throughout the whole game. even when he's playing at the left striker after henry is subbed.

thierry henry - 6.5
so happy for him, finally win his champions league medal, although it's not with arsenal T_T. he's abit off form, clearly not fully fit after his injury. tricked ferdinard and almost scored 1 himself.

messi - 8.0
all eyes on him, scored the 2nd goal with a header. winner of this year's fifa world player of the year?

eto'o - 7.5
good technique to score the 1st goal, and barca took control after that.


manchester united:

van der sar - 8.0
best player from fergie's side. made many good safes to keep it at 2-0. although he failed to cover his near pole against eto'o 's goal.

o'shea - 6.0
did ok, but the speed of barca's strikers is too much for him.

ferdinard - 5.0
bad. shaky defence. but did a few interception.

vidic - 5.0
i expected more from him, and he just won player of the league. worst game i've seen from him.

evra - 5.5
claim himself to be the best left back. -_-

carrick - 6.0
looks 2nd tier in front of xavi.

giggs - 5.5
nothing much to note from him.

anderson - 5.0
nervous in the final, and loss the ball too easily.

park ji sung - 5.5
1st asian player to play in the CL's final, but made no impact.

rooney - 5.5
anonymous in the game.

ronaldo - 6.5
so much talk from him before the game, the official player of the year plans to win the game all by himself. shoot from 40m, and unwilling to pass when team mates are obviously in better position. show off pony who get kicked in the ass.

woke up early on "duty-free" saturday to join the darkmoon faire for world of warcraft TCG in suntec this morning.
and yes, i've quit the game for 2 years. but i go there not for the cards but this.... (akira and mog went down too, the play mat is just too attractive.)

damn nice! the best play mat i've ever seen! and i've not received it yet though, but i believe upperdeck will not scam me. hope*

anyway, i saw this random t-shirt design at the fair.

didn't expect to see adrian (tds medic) there, playing for the darkmoon faire too! well... playing for the play mat i mean.

asia soft had their booth too, some games competitions. and lots of mm there.

cards against AKB

after playing with AKB for 2 months...
i've kinda get used to it, constant top 3 in weekly tournaments. (yesterday was an exception, jie jie > everything)
after 2 months of try and edit, the main deck is kinda max out to my style. as for side deck, it'll just keep changing according to other decks in the metagame, and also what cards they use to side against AKB. but overall, i need to improve my play, there're still mistakes.

since AKB is like the deck to beat now, yes... not BF somehow. ok, fine, maybe it's still BF in singapore. lol..
everyone did lots of side decking against AKB, and some just main some tech cards.

cards which i feel will hurt AKB, in no order.

-deck devastation virus
-natural beast
-genocide
-dimension fissure/cosmo
-ancient forest
-skill drain
-divine wrath
-threatening roar/waboku
-death knight caliber
-d.d. crow
-bottomless traphole
-mind control
-----

deck devastation virus:
clearly, the main cards like summon priest, rescue cats and gravekeeper will fly, technically close to all monsters. deck destruction virus is less useful against AKB. only x-saber, dark arm, gorz, and for some cyber dragon and chaos sorceror. i still remember in one AKB mirror match, which i start first. i set a spy and end, then he set a monster and a m/t. i use cold wave, he chained for deck destruction virus. i show him my hand. then reverse summon spy for spy. summon my cat, and otk...

natural beast:
it only happens in mirror, more or less... the player who starts first summon a natural beast on his field then set a supportive m/t, e.g. bottomless traphole or book of moon. AKB practically can't do anything at it. can't go offensive to take out the natural beast as you can't take out the set card behind without using magic. and if you try to rescue cat, be ready to die. so most likely is go for defensive and try to counter.

genocide:
spy is a key card in the deck. key to card advantage --> arcanite mag. and to drag for components, e.g. cat, coldwave. also, accelerate pot of avarice. generally, 2000 def is good against most decks.

dimension fissure/cosmo:
simply counter the whole deck. you can't cat and avarice. and even coldwave won't help. close shop. side deck needed... unless u normal summon your x-saber to synchro with GK for arcanite mag/black rose. but fuel runs out on the spot.

ancient forest:
only seen against GB. you can't attack until you clear it with a cyclone or something which most likely you'll get controlled by GB by then. another main thing is spy, raikou, get flipped open to attack mode without effect, the whole tempo is towards GB immediately. but coldwave can be used. so not that bad.

skill drain:
skill drain control is a problem, since it stops everything. but same thing, just side deck more 'wind'

divine wrath:
no cat, no summon priest. until your coldwave. but things that can be solved with coldwave is not that much of a problem. same apply to chariot.

threatening roar/waboku:
as mention above, coldwave plays a part. roar can chain, so won't get bang by x-saber and stuff. then most likely AKB won't cat, since can't attack. make use of the coldwave and counter attack. i play against this emo guy who side 3x roar, 3x waboku against me. lol... i took out my coldwave and milk his cards slowly.

death knight caliber:
can be seen in japanese's AKB main deck. good in mirror, since AKB is the meta there. it's like a raiou, but you just can't cat or priest.

d.d. crow:
AKB will run out of fuel, unless it uses pot of avarice.

bottomless traphole:
simply kill the x-saber when summoned through cat. if the AKB player summon 2x x-saber without clearing the back row, well done you've won it already.

mind control:
i use it in mirror, mainly to steal set monster. anything is fine. e.g. spy. i don't loss a card. since my mind control end up becomes summoning a spy on my field. indirectly earn 1 card, since he can't use spy's effect. then u normal summon your x-saber, leet skill...

this is just a process!
